BEREA FOLK DANCERS

These English Country Dance enthusiasts hold free weekly dances open to the public, as well as a monthly potluck and dance with live music which often features renowned teachers from around the country.

CONTRAIRE DANCE ASSOCIATION

These dancers hold a lively contra dance each month and encourage new dancers, callers and musicians with a monthly house dance, as well as support two annual dance weekends: Swing Shift, a contra/swing weekend produced with our LexDance neighbors, and Hands Four, a weekend of workshops, dances, music and singing.

DANISH FOLK GYMNASTICS

Each year, Berea College and the Folk Circle invite a Danish individual from DGI/ISCA to lead a program of Danish-style gymnastics, folk dancing, leadership, exchange programs, and sports for kids of all ages.

BEREA SHAPE NOTE SINGERS

This group continues the tradition of a cappella singing from the book The Sacred Harp, originally published in 1844. They have produced a CD, Ten Thousand Charms, available at the Artisan Center, local shops and our own bookstore.  They often perform at Shaker Village and welcome singers of all ages and ability.

NONESUCH PLAYERS

The Players perform “all things English” – English Country, maypole, morris and sword dances, and an ever-changing mummers play during the annual Berea Wassail Tour in early January.  They perform at various festivals, and dance the sun up on May 1st each year.  Come join in this ancient tradition and stay for breakfast!

BEREA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

This lively event brings to Berea a collection of authentic arts, crafts, music and dance from around the world for a weekend of fun.  Performances, demonstrations and hands-on activities are all free and open to the public.

LEVI JACKSON DANCE WEEKEND

For more than fifty years the Levi Jackson Dance Weekend has been a tradition of cooperative fun and fellowship among experienced dancers in late September at Levi Jackson State Park in London, Kentucky.

DANISH-AMERICAN CHRISTMAS PARTY

In December, the entire town is invited to celebrate Christmas with traditions from America and Denmark.  In addition to a beautiful tree, Christmas carols and a visit from Santa Claus, you can hear stories, create traditional Danish crafts, and experience a dazzling Santa Lucia procession, complete with candles.
